Construction of new veteran family wellbeing centre commences in Brisbane

RSL Queensland, Mates4Mates and developer Rogerscorp have today officially commenced construction of the new Stafford Services Hub - a purpose built Veteran and Family Wellbeing Centre at Stafford in Brisbane’s north.

The first sod was turned on site earlier this morning as part of an official ceremony, pathing the way for the new Veteran and Family Wellbeing Centre, which will play a significant role in providing support services to the veteran community. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Federal and State Governments, Brisbane City Council, RSL Queensland, Mates4Mates and Legacy.

The new centre will be located at 274 Stafford Road with works due to be completed late in 2022.

RSL Queensland and Mates4Mates will occupy the 1500 square metre top floor of the two-storey building which will become a hub for the veteran community, providing critical support, rehabilitation and camaraderie to current and former Australian Defence Force members and their families.

The first of its kind in South-East Queensland, the centre is designed to bring together a variety of services under one roof, helping to make it easier for veterans and their families to find the support they need.

RSL Queensland CEO, Robert Skoda, said the new Veteran and Family Wellbeing Centre will provide accessible, in-person counselling, physical rehabilitation, employment support and mentorship support to current and former defence personnel and their families.

“We are committed to providing critical services to this high-density community of veterans and their families by providing practical support, assistance and social connection to the families of veterans impacted by Defence service. “The Veteran and Family Wellbeing Centre is a space where the veteran community can come to access all different types services and support.

“More veterans live in Queensland than any other state and RSL Queensland proudly delivers more veteran wellbeing services in Queensland than any other Australian ex-Services organisation. This model is a perfect example of how we are working to evolve veteran support services to ensure they are meeting the needs of our ever-changing community.”

The Stafford Services Hub is a multi-million dollar development being managed by Rogerscorp and will become home to service providers for the veteran community including RSL Queensland, Mates4Mates and Legacy.
